About Hidaya Institute of Quranic Studies

Hidaya Institute for Quranic Sciences, is an institute dedicated to serve, participate in, and be part of the Quran preservation process promised by Allah (swt): We have, without doubt, sent down the Message (the Quran); and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption); 15:9. The Institute is committed to providing quality education programs geared towards memorizing, understanding and acting in accordance with the holly Quran. The Hidaya institute is located in Germantown, MD and is pleased to announce the start of a new series of educational offerings. While these programs are initially limited to memorization and reading of the Quran during the current quarter, it will expand to other related areas in the near future.

Programs and Services


The Institute will provide the following programs and services:

ChildrenHifz (CMH, CBH & CGH classes) – The objectives of this program is to help children memorize the Quran with correct pronunciation observing the rules of "Tajweed". It will also includes understanding of the suras/ayas being memorized. The program serves two age groups: pre-school age children (4 to 5 yrs old) and elementary aged children (6 to 11 years old).

YouthHifz (YSH & YBH classes) – The objectives of this program is to help youth memorize the Quran with correct pronunciation observing the rules of "Tajweed". It will also include understanding of the suras/ayas being memorized. The program serves brothers and sisters of middle and high school age (12 to 18 years old). Classes for sisters will be separate from those for the brothers.

AdultHifz (ASH & ABH classes) – The objectives of this program is to help adults memorize the Quran with correct pronunciation observing the rules of "Tajweed". It will also include understanding of the suras/ayas being memorized. The program serves brothers and sisters of college age and older (19 years old & up). Classes for sisters will be separate from those for the brothers.

AdultTajweed (ASR & ABR classes) – The objectives of this program is to help adults read the Quran with correct pronunciation observing the rules of "Tajweed". It will also include understanding of the suras/ayas being read. The program serves brothers and sisters of college age and older(19 years old & up). Classes for sisters will be separate from those for the brothers.

FamilyPack (FP classes) – The objectives of this program is to help the whole family read and memorize the Quran with correct pronunciation observing the rules of "Tajweed". It will also include understanding of the suras/ayas being read / memorized. The program serves parents and children of the same family where the family registers as a single package. Family members will be distributed to different classes according to their level and age. As an example a family Pack can consist of a husband, wife, 14 years old boy and 10 years old girl. This family fills out one registration form and takes 4 placement tests, one for each family member. According to the result of the placement test, the husband will be placed in the proper level in the AdultHifz or reading class (AdultTajweed) for brothers, same for the wife except for sisters, the 14 years old will be placed in the proper level in the YouthHifz class for brothers and the 10 years old in the ChildrenHifz class. This program is offered only on Saturdays, and it is meant to serve as a one stop shop for the whole family who would like to spend the weekend with the book of Allah.

Instructors


Alhamdulellah all of the instructors teaching at Hidaya have completed memorization of the entire Quran or have memorized substantial parts of it. In fact, some of the instructors at the institute are not only memorizers (Huffaz) of the whole Quran but also have a formal license (Ijaza) certifying that they have mastered the rules of recitation from a teacher who in turn acquired the knowledge and certification from a certified teacher forming an ‘un-broken chain’ going all the way to the Prophet peace be upon him. After getting this license a person can recite the Quran and teach it to others the same way it was recited during the time of the Prophet (pbuh).

Placement of Applicants


Upon accepting the application, the institute will schedule an appointment with the applicant to make a simple assessment for him or her to place them in the appropriate level. A written placement form shall be filled out by the instructor conducting the assessment and filed in the applicant’s folder.

Location


The Institute is temporary located at 13242 Executive Park Terrace, Germantown, MD 20874. Initially all the classes will take place at this location.

Terms of Study


Terms of study at the institute shall be on Quarterly basis:
1st Quarter (Q1): January 1st – March 31st.
2nd Quarter (Q2): April 1st – June 30th.
3rd Quarter (Q3): July 1st – September 30th.
4th Quarter (Q4): October 1st – December 31st.

Tuition and Other Fees


Tuition for each class will be a flat rate of $210 per semester per student, to be paid once at the beginning of each semester. Books and other material will be charged at $10 per course (if the materials are available at the institute) or may be purchased independently by the applicant. At the time of enrollment, applicants will be informed of the needed books and / or other supplies they will need to acquire for each course. Application fee is a non refundable $25 per application. Application fee applies only for new and returning students. It is waived for students who continue with their programs from one quarter to the next without interruption.
